There are 2 main forms of carbs. One is simple sugars and the other is starches.

The simple sugars include fructose, glucose and lactose. These are found in whole and nutritious fruits. The starches are found in grains, rice, bread and cereals and starchy vegetables, such as potatoes. You can test if a food contains starch by doing an experiment: add a drop of iodine to the food, and if it turns black then it contains starch. Obviously don't eat it after you have done so! Good sources are: * whole-grain cereals * brown rice * whole-grain breads * fruits * vegetables * low-fat dairy
