What did t-rex look like?

There were many different types of dinosaurs with very different appearances. Here are a few of the main groups, and a general description of each.

1. Sauropods were long necked, four legged plant eaters. Examples include Brachiosaurus and Diplodocus.

2. Theropods were bipedal meat eaters. Examples include T-rex and Velociraptor.

3. Hadrosaurs were plant eaters that walked on four legs but could stand or run on two legs. They often had ornate head crests used for communication and/or display. Examples include Parasaurolophus and Corythosaurus

4. Ceratopsians were four legged plant eaters that often had horns and frills. Examples include Triceratops and Protoceratops.

5. Stegosaurs were four legged plant eaters with very short front legs and large hind legs. They had small heads close to the ground. They are most famous for the two rows of vertical bony plates that grew out of their backs.

6. Ankylosaurs were slow, heavily armored, four legged plant eaters.

7. Pachycephalosaurs were bipedal dinosaurs with thick, bony skulls that would have looked as if they had a helmet when the animal was alive.

Nobody actually knows what the dinosaurs really look like. They can tell the shape of the dinosaur by its bones (fossils) and we guess the colours.
