A Combat Lifesaver is a certified US Army soldier trained in advanced first aid. Ideally there should be one Combat Lifesaver per platoon. The purpose is to provide advanced first aid until an Army medic arrives. It is a three week course that teaches skills including: IV administration, bleeding control, heat injuries, cold weather injuries, burn management, etc.
