Special F.D. Crash trucks are used to put out fires in aircraft. These trucks usually carry their own water and foam in the truck. Fire Hydrants are not located on runways. Foam is a major tool in airframe fires because it acts like a blanket. Other extinguishers like Carbon dioxide and special chemicals ( some no longer used like Chlorobromo methane) are also used to control or extinguish the fire. In Aircraft accidents Rescue is your primary concern. Military firemen ( Crash Rescue Specialist) also use special tools designed for rescue and firefighting military aircraft that have ejection systems and munitions onboard.

I personally drove a Crash Truck in the Air Force that carried 2,300 gallons of water and 300 gallons of foam with a crew of 4 Rescue Firemen. The truck carried a 1 1/2" handline, it had 2 Truck mounted Fire Foam Nozzles and 6 under truck nozzles. It was capable of driving into a pool of burning fuel to perform rescue, and that was back in 1965 during Vietnam. Today they are even better.
