That depends what country you're sending it from. An ordinary letter, up to one ounce, from the USA to Germany will cost $1.15 in postage, as of August 2014. A letter from any EU country to Germany, up to 20 grams, will cost the same as a 20-gram letter within the country you're sending it from. (For example, a 20-gram letter from Portugal to Germany requires the same postage as a 20-gram letter within Portugal.)
