The Ilocano are a local people from the Philippines that believe that a craving for sour fruit means that a woman is expecting. They also believe in carrying salt with them to ward off evil spirits. Some of the superstitions surrounding marriage include driving in the same vehicle to or from the church, dropping of a coin, and the dropping of a veil all of which are said to bring bad luck and misfortune on the married couple.
