There are four predominant myths concerning vampires in Australia:

The Yara-Ma-Yha-Who, was believed by aboriginal culture to be a short (4ft) red (or sometimes green) man with a large head and mouth, with no teeth. It used suckers on its fingers and toes to drain the blood from its victims, and later ate and regurgitated the victims body. It was believed to drop from fig trees on to its victims. The attack itself was believed to be non-fatal, however legend suggested that if you were attacked by this creature more than once, would might also become one of them as well.
