Generally myths are religious stories told to explain an event that otherwise cannot be explained. Every Greek myth explained an event, either in moral or in allegory. Those events can all be explained now, so the reason behind the story is generally no longer relavent.

Example: The story of Apollo and Daphne was an allegory for why the dew disappeared when the sun rose. We know now that the reason is evaporation, so the whole reason for the story is now moot. Religion was really just a means to explain the unexplainable for those people. Since we have a deeper understanding of the world, it could be argued that their myths are obsolete.
