Coffee originated from the Old World, specifically in the region of Ethiopia in East Africa. It was later cultivated in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Yemen, before spreading to other parts of the world. The New World, particularly Brazil and Colombia, became significant coffee producers much later, after coffee was introduced there in the 17th century.
