When industries along major rivers such as the Nile River or the Congo River dump their factory wastes into the water, all that pollution is carried downstream. Then, because there are few if any water purification systems, the people who live downstream get all that pollution in their drinking water. If the water isn't distributed properly, then the farmers who need to irrigate their crops won't get to get as much water to their crops. The crops will then die, causing people to starve. Hope this helps!

How does water pollution and the unqual access to water impact irrigation and drinking water?

Water pollution and unequal access to water significantly hinder both irrigation and drinking water availability. Contaminated water sources can lead to unsafe drinking water, increasing health risks for communities, particularly in agricultural areas. Additionally, polluted water can impair irrigation systems, reducing crop yields and affecting food security. This disparity often exacerbates socioeconomic inequalities, as marginalized populations are the most affected by both water scarcity and pollution.

Why is it that most of the earth's water can not be used?

Most of Earth's water (about 97%) is saltwater found in oceans, which is not suitable for drinking or irrigation without desalination. The remaining freshwater is mostly locked in glaciers, ice caps, and underground aquifers, making it inaccessible for immediate human use. Factors like pollution, contamination, and uneven distribution also contribute to the scarcity of usable water.
