I was just told a while ago that Northern Light it the same stuff shipped to USA in drums and bottled in KY. So far in my last 15 minutes research leads me to think my friend is full of bovine fecal matter. I've found NOTHING to support this. I wont know until I buy a bottle tomorrow and ask my dad to sample it. Im 40 and can't tell the difference between Crown and Seagram's 7 because I dont drink the sht. Only Budweiser for me.
Generally whisk(e)y classifications are by region and have disctintive flavor profiles. Scotch whisky is one of them, and there are different flavor profiles according to the specific region of Scotland where it's produced. Others include Irish whiskey, American whiskey (may not be limited to bourbon and Tennessee whiskey), Canadian whiskey, and Asian whiskies (in particular to Taiwanese and Japanese whiskies).
Answer - 'Best' Scotch WhiskyThe short answer is NO. It is all down to personal taste. There are three types of Scotch Whisky (correct spelling) Blended, Single Malt and Pure Malt. There are over 2500 brands of Scotch Whisky, only 200 or so are available for the home market. The rest are for export, private clubs, collector's etc. The best Whisky is the one that someone else buys for you. Just to say that there is also Delux blends that contain a higher proportion of malt whiskey as opposed to grain. There is also whiskey known as vatted malt.
Johnny Walker Black (12 Yr. Old)
no Premium whiskey from JW starts at black label, then green label, then gold label, and FINALLY, the holiest of holy: blue label. I personally like the green label the best, for its intensity. If you want the smoothest Johnny Walker, then get the black. You won't be disappointed!
Scotch whiskey should be stored upright in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. It is best to store it in a room with a consistent temperature, ideally between 60-65 degrees Fahrenheit. Additionally, the bottle should be tightly sealed to prevent oxidation and evaporation of the whiskey. It is important to avoid storing the whiskey in a location where it may be exposed to strong odors, as it can impact the flavor of the whiskey.
The one in the glass you're holding. No, the best I ever tasted was a 30 year old Brora, but it's a question of taste, of course. Have you tried any of the Islay malts? Laphroig is a great place to start, and it's not particularly expensive, either. Cheers.
