The 'scientific method' is alive and well in Antarctica, as the scientists study the health of planet earth.

However, Antarctica is a place of data gathering with little academic 'lab' work, per se. Any lab work, however, would follow the same safety precautions and the same notation standards as those followed by academics doing lab work.
