How do humans cause global warming?

Simply driving your car, or using electricity, causes global warming.

Burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in industry, transport and the generation of electricity releases carbon dioxide (CO2). This is a powerful greenhouse gas that has been hidden underground for 300 million years. This is causing global warming.

The great forests that used to suck carbon dioxide out of the air are all being cut down.

As creatures of the planet, humans do nothing to contribute to global warming. (This would be in the sense of the effects of methane released by cattle.) However, in every way humans have affected the planet and now the effects have reached a point of needing immediate change. Remember the ozone layer and the chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) issues of a few years ago? They were outlawed and now the ozone layer is better. Using coal to create electricity to heat our homes and oil to run our cars has helped to increase the earth's temperature. As have manufacturing plants, particularly in China and the US. In addition, deforestation, like in Brazil, has seriously affected the ability of the earth to manage the effects of using fossil fuels. In cities, we have created heat islands with the amount of paving and homes concentrated in areas - water use is high, and weather patterns are changing so the earth does not cool down as much at night, is hotter during the days. Some do say that this is just a cycle of the earth's weather; however scientists (Including Exxon) have seen the measurable effects of human activity on the planet for decades.
