Changing the temperature scale

This thermometer is shipped with the Fahrenheit temperature

scale activated. If you wish to switch to Celsius (°C), proceed as

follows:

• Turn on the thermometer.

(If it is already turned on, make sure it is not in memory mode.)

• Press the /mem button and keep it pressed. Then press and

release the activation button to switch over to the «change

temperature scale» mode.

• By pressing the activation button again, the Celsius scale is

activated, «°C» is displayed on the LCD. Each further pressing

of the activation button toggles the scale between °C and °F.

• Release the /mem button to return to the ready symbol .

All temperatures stored in memory will automatically be converted

to the selected scale when displayed on the LCD. IRT 3020

How do you change c to f in a thermoscan thermometer?

Press O/mem down, while holding it, press the button that you press when checking a temp. On the LCD you should see C - 5, press it until it shows F degrees. (May have to press button until C - 5 appears, which I had to, 5 times) I have an older model, and that is how I can change it.

How much heat energy must be added to 1 kg of silver to change its temperature from -40 degrees C to -20 degrees C?

q = mass * specific heat * change in temperature 1 kg silver = 1000 grams q = (1000 g Ag)(0.237 J/gC)[(- 40o C) - (- 20o C)] = - 4.7 X 103 Joules =============

What is the quantity of heat in joules needed to raise the temperature of 40.0g of Al from 25 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees Celsius?

E = mass x specific heat x Δ°T Δ°T = new temperature - original temperature where Δ°T is equal to temperature change (Celsius in this case). The specific heat of Al is 0.900 J/g°C. Before we proceed to find the quantity of heat in joules, we must first find the temperature change. To calculate the temperature change, we must subtract the original temperature from the new temperature. Δ°T = 50°C - 25°C = 25°C In order to find the quantity of heat (joules), we must multiply mass, specific heat, and the temperature change (calculated above). E = 40.0g x 0.900 J/g°C x 25°C = 900 Joules or 9.0 x 102 Joules

Why is the triangle symbol in front of the T but not the Q in the equation Q equals m x T x C?

That equation is, q(Joules) = mass * specific heat ( symbol is C ) * (delta, a triangle) change in temperature That is to say delta means, Temperature Final - Temperature Initial q is a constant and not subject to change as temperature is
