Water vapor is the primary greenhouse gas which traps about 80% of all the heat we need to exist. Without greenhouse gases we would all die as the planet would be extremly cold and quite dead.

CO2 is the second most common greenhouse gas making up almost 0.04% of our atmosphere. This is also a naturally occurring gas. Man also produces about 4% of this gas (3 to 6% depending on who you ask).

Methane is a very minor contributor in terms of volume and forcing. Almost all methane is produced naturally through animal's natural biological processes.

Ozone is also on the list. The "hole" in the southeren hemisphere that occurrs naturally each winter is blamed for the increase in ice mass in the Southern Hemisphere we have seen.

Any gas with three or more atomes is considered a greenhouse gas. Man produces almost 0.3% of all greenhouse gases. Nature produces the rest.

Of the 1375 watts per square meter of the sun's energy that hits the planet, we retain about 350 watts of this energy for warmth. Over the past 150 years some people claim that it is possible the earth is retaining about 3 extra watts of this energy. (The claim itself is debateable) If true, the increase may be, in part, caused by man's use of fossil fuels and the atmosphereic change associated with this use. Currently the atmosphere is claimed to have changed (by some groups) as much as 0.01%.

How do you green house gases effect earth?

they make the earth warmer

What causes the green house to effect?

Green house gases, such as carbon dioxide.

How greenhouse effect affects global warming?

The green house effect is called that because the earths atmosphere is acting like a green house. The pollutant gases in the earth's atmosphere trap the sun's heat around the earth just like in a green house where the glass traps the heat in the glass house. This trapped heat raises the overall temp of the earth this is called global warming.

What is meant by green house?

Green house effect is the hypothesis that certain gases in the high atmosphere hold heat in.

Green house gases are responsible for a phenomenon called?

The Greenhouse Effect.

Is green house effect beneficial to man and environment?

Green house effect assist the earth to retain its temperatuere in equilibrium. In absence of green house effect , earth's temperature will be rapidly increase due to intensity of sunlight further in night or in lake of sunlight the temperature of earth surface will be rapidly go down. But much concentration of green house gases absorb more heat that results much temperature during day and also more temperature in night...

How does green house effect earth?

for environment

Why is green house effect called green house effect?

Because the "greenhouse gases" act similarly to a greenhouse. The heat goes through the gases (glass panes) and is stored on Earth (greenhouse) and is unable to exit back into the atmosphere (sky). Google "greenhouse effect" and go look at the images, the pictures on the first page will help you to understand my analogy.

What is the green house effect's effect on the Earth's average temperature?

The Earth's mean temperature will rise.

What is a shorter definition of the green house effect?

Green house effect is keeping an area warm by allowing the solar radiations to pass in but preventing long wavelength heat waves to escape due to presence od radiatively active gases and glasspanes.

What is absorbed by green house gases?

Greenhouse gases absorb Infrared heat rising from the surface of the earth.

What keep things warm?

if you mean in the earth like why doesnt space make us cold its 2 things the atmosphere and the green house effect the green house effect is well like the green house it captures heat and keeps it in earth and the atmosphere is a thin layer of gases surrounding the earth formed my volcanoes and other things it keeps in water oxygen we need to live and the ozone in it keeps out harmful rays
