∙ 13y agoFirst, as birds drop seeds and things, soil will be made at the bottom of the pond. This will allow plant to grow there. As these plants die and decay, the bottom of the pond rises until eventually it will become a marsh with plants growing there. Then slowly different plants might evolve there. These trees will have a higher transpiration rate and dry up the wet soil allowing this once-pond to become a forest.
