When people refer to climate change now, usually they are referring to "global warming" as the result of decades and decades of Carbon Dioxide emission into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a "greenhouse gas", which means its accumulation causes the heat absorbed by the planet to become trapped - rather that radiate out to space. The trapped heat thus subsequently raises the mean temperature of the Earth - which has a very long list of detrimental side effects.

How does our lifestyles effect this? Modern humans, particularly in western nations, have lifestyles that completely rely on the energy supplied by the combustion fossil fuels - a process which releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Thus, our lifestyle choices of wanting to drive our own car, live in the suburbs with huge yards we water every day, cool our homes to 69 degrees when it is 99 degrees outside, wear clothes imported from around the world, etc - means we continue the demand for fossil fuels to be combusted. Put another way, the higher our luxury the more carbon dioxide put into the atmosphere.

Humans can go a long way to reduce this addiction by choosing to be efficient. Buy goods produced locally - that do not need to be transported around the world in a barge using diesel fuel. Instead of 30 people each driving 30 cars 30 miles down the freeway burning the fuel in 30 different gas tanks - have them all hop in a train or bus. Instead of having a building with glass all over the place and trying to cool that building down to 69 degrees, have more sparing and wise choice of where to use glass - and cool your home to 72 degrees. Instead of designing cities to expand further and further from the core - requiring further and further drives and preventing the use of bikes or walking - design our future growth to be compact and walkable.

Global warming is occurring at a faster rate than at any previous time in the earth's history. If allowed to continue, it will result in changes before we, as a species, have time to evolve or adapt. And, if rising sea levels and storm surges cause inundation of prime coastal properties, the only practical way we can adapt may be to abandon those properties.

It melts the ice caps and leaves polar bears homeless.

The effects aren't only for the animal lives but ours if we keep going like this our lives will be cut short by either floods or extreme heat a global epidemic but its not for a couple hundred years so when we die might as well make the world die with us. but seriously we could rally all we want but the fact is we are humans we don't like being told what to do so if we tell them not to use cars and make it illegal people would just drive cars illegal but no matter what the human race is Quoting a lot of people an independent entity for its own gain so Greed, Lust all them will take control eventually so why fight it.

Global warming; because of human's increased output of carbon dioxide, the sun's heat rays are trapped in our atmosphere, thereby heating up our planet.

The atmosphere trapping the sun's heat rays will slowly melt the ice caps, raising sea levels and flooding miles of what used to be land. Many areas will become uninhabitable due to desertification, areas will become too hot for human life, and mass droughts will occur. Fresh water will be in short supply.

An extravagant lifestyle (the average Westerner?) is likely to need a lot of fossil fuel burnt to support it (electricity generation, vehicle transport, industry production). In this way the lifestyle would have a high carbon footprint and a major contribution to global warming.

A simple lifestyle (a monk in Tibet, perhaps) eating local vegetables, using transport and electricity rarely, would have a low carbon footprint and contribute very little to global warming.

If you live in a poor country in Africa, chances are you are already experiencing famine. If you live in a low lying country or neighbourhood, then chances are your home and land will be flooded. If this happens to you, then you, and millions of your countrypeople, will try to move to higher ground, and better living areas. There will probably be people there already, who will not want you to come.

Humans have been industrious little beavers, scraping fossil coal deposits out of the earth, and pumping dry vast reservoirs of fossil oil, and burning these. The carbon dioxide released by these activities is a greenhouse gas, trapping solar infrared radiation and gradually raising earth's temperature.

If there were not so many of us, and if we slowed our rate of consumption of fossil fuels by generation electricity through renewable resources, and if we invested more in public mass transit systems, we could mitigate the environmental impact of our activities.

A:Doing anything such as leaving a light, computer, or TV on while you are not using it can affect global warming. These machines all require fossil fuels, and when you turn on a light or TV that burns fossil fuels. Burning fossil fuels are part of what causes global warming.

Also driving in your car, the gas requires fossil fuels.

If you live in a developed country, it is likely that your lifestyle is one of the causes of global warming. Your lifestyle demands electricity, which is usually produced by burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas). This releases carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases that cause global warming. Your lifestyle probably includes driving in vehicles, running on petroleum, a fossil fuel.

How would global warming impact Arizona?

it would get a lot hotter and would be hard to live in

What does global importance mean?

Global importance is a term used to evaluate the importance or value of an issue based on how relevant or important it is to the rest of the world. For instance, global warming has a lot of global importance because it affects the entire globe where issues like high gas prices in Connecticut have low global importance because they only really affect the people that live in Connecticut

Without Global Warming?

without global warming you cant live because without it you wouldn't have enough heat kept in the earth. he earth would be cold... but with greenhouse layers there's too much heat kept in or protected .. so this melts icecap's. etc.

Because of global warming Why are polar bears drowning?

The Arctic sea ice, where they live during the winter, is melting earlier every year.

How will Global warming affect Canada?

It's not possible to say accurately what will happen to Canada in the future. Global warming is happening all over the world. Some places will be drier than before. Other places will be wetter than before. Warming causes weather, so more warming is certainly going to affect the weather. Low lying countries and coastlines and cities will be in danger from rising sea levels. Warming oceans expand, and this is causing the rise firstly. Melting glaciers and ice caps are a secondary reason. Places in Canada too cold for agriculture may be able to be farmed, but much of the present croplands may have to adapt or be abandoned if global warming continues.

Which animals does global warming affect the most and how?

global warming mostly affect the polar bears which live in the Arctic which is cold, and is getting warmer by time due to global warming. So polar bears a turning into an endangered species and people are designing them on Coke cans to help them. :)

Why could global warming be a problem in the future?

Well, eventaully global warming will cause serious damage to the worlds climate eg. massive weather chages, dangerous tempertaures, flooding etc. And we will no longer be able to live the way we do today. So it will be a big problem.

How do environmental issues affect Antarctica?

Global warming is melting all of the ice which will make all of the animals that live there die and sea levels will rise.

Does Global Warming affect the Arctic wolf?

yes because the ice it lives on will eventually melt and it will die out because it will have no where to live. hence the term ARCTIC fox

Will people have to live differently when global warming happens?

Sometimes global warming does change how people live. For example, the time to plant gardens after winter is now earlier in some places than it was 20 years ago.

Is it too late to slow down the rate of Global Warming?

It may well be too late to stop some serious effects of global warming. However, we should be optimistic. If we make serious changes now we may be able to live with a future climate for a while (several hundred years) till it cools again.

What are 3 ways global warming effects wild life?

global warming is rising the temperature of the earth so in the anatartic it causes the glaciers to melt....and th animals there cannot bear high temperature than their original.... thats one reason global warming is also caused by deforestation so that takes away homes for animals who considers trees as their home global warming means increase in carbon di oxide which may effect animals

How do animals live in glaciers?

freeze into ice untill the global warming kills them all

What are some things about polar bears?

they live in the arctic and are dying out because of global warming!

Why don't polar bears live in the mountains?

They thrive well where they are, global warming notwithstanding.

What is the importance and danger of global warming and extreme global warming?

Global Warming is probably the most important thing facing the people of the world today. The danger from global warming is that if we cannot slow and later stop it, the world will become hotter and almost impossible to live in. There will be horrific changes in countries and peoples as they try to adapt to a different climate where all the things they were used to have changed.

Is the Arctic endangered?

Yes because the ice is melting from global warming
