What seasons do sub tropical climates have?

The seasons normally found in the Sub Tropical Climates are normally seen as the temperatures aren't extremely frequent. Meaning, it usually stays above 70 all throught the year. Eventually, it cools down for a couple of months though concluding, there are only 2 seasons there: (i) Summer (ii) Winter. Though, their winter season isn't very cold, in fact, it's fairly warm; their summer seasons last much longer than the winter seasons since it is located near the equator.

Why is it hotter during the summer?

I'm not sure, but I think it's because the sun stays out longer.

Why does the sun seem hotter in the summer?

The sun stays the same temperature all the time. (Well, actually, scientists say that it is very very slowly cooling down, but this is so minute and slow that it will take an extremely long time, "millions of years" before this makes any difference to life on earth.) So if we are hot in the summertime, we know that the sun is many times hotter, yet constant. Even when we are freezing cold in the wintertime we can look at the sun and know that it is still there, constantly generating a stable and regular supply of heat. And we can be confident that when it is our turn to have our annual summer, it will get warmer again, at least, it usually does!

Why does the length day and night change throughout the year?

The tilt of the Earth's axis, and it's elliptical orbit around the sun. We only have 24 hours in a day, so if the nights become longer, the days have to become shorter. Seriously, it's all due to the Earth orbiting the sun in an elliptical pattern and the axis tilt, which always stays on the same plane. At the winter equinox, the days begin to get longer, until the summer equinox, when the days begin to shorten again. Note that in the winter, the sun sits much lower in the sky than during the summer, at least in the northern hemisphere. It's reversed for the southern hemisphere, as are the seasons. Hard to imagine summer for December, and snow in July, but that's how it is below the equator.
