The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is primarily a Northern Hemisphere phenomenon. It's southern-most extent is found at Bouvet Island (Olavtoppen, 780 m, at 54°24′S 03°21′E), which is north of the Antarctic Circle.
The Indian Ocean has an upside-down Y-shaped divergent ridge known as the Southwest Indian Ridge. This ridge system is located in the southern part of the Indian Ocean basin and extends from the East African coast to Antarctica.
Mid-Ocean Ridge
The Mid-Atlantic Ridge is actually spreading slower than the East Pacific Rise. The rate of seafloor spreading along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge is estimated at about 2.5 centimeters per year, while the East Pacific Rise spreads at a rate of about 5 centimeters per year.

The Antarctic plate is the tectonic plate under the continent of Antarctica. It extends northward below the oceans to where it meets the Nazca, South American, African, Indo-Australian, and Scotia Plates and forms a divergent boundary along the Pacific-Antarctic Ridge.

Pacific Ridge School was created in 2007.
The mid-ocean ridge system is a continuous underwater mountain range that extends through all the major oceans. It includes the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, East Pacific Rise, and Central Indian Ridge, among others. These ridges are formed by tectonic plates moving apart, allowing magma from the Earth's mantle to rise and solidify, creating new oceanic crust.

Countries that are part of the mid-ocean ridge spreading centers include Iceland, located on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and parts of Antarctica, where the East Pacific Rise intersects the Southern Ocean. These areas are often remote and not associated with specific countries.
