Global Warming Wrecks All the Fun

The Arctic is warming at twice the global average rate, leading to rapid sea ice loss and thawing permafrost. Arctic ecosystems are highly sensitive to changes in temperature, impacting biodiversity and species' habitats. The melting Arctic ice contributes to rising sea levels, affecting global climate patterns and weather systems.
Climate change is usually used as a synonym for global warming, but encompasses wider effects, most of which are probably the result of global warming. Over the past two decades, three independent groups have used varying statistical methods and yet arrived at nearly identical conclusion that the planet's surface, on average, has warmed about 0.75 degree since the beginning of the twentieth century. The evidence is now so overwhelming that climate scientists are no longer in doubt that global warming and climate change are occurring, and that this is the result of human activity. Even opponents of climate science are beginning to accept the facts of global warming. Richard Muller, a Physics Professor and longtime critic of climate studies, set out with a team of physicists and statisticians to challenge the scientific consensus on global warming but is producing results nearly identical to those underlying the prevailing view. There is a close correlation between the rise in average global temperatures and the increase in greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, and scientists are confident that it is these greenhouse gas concentrations, particularly carbon dioxide levels, that are causing global warming. There are two means by which carbon dioxide concentrations can increase significantly in the atmosphere: reduce the amount of carbon sequestered in organic matter, particularly trees, or burn coal and oil. In both cases, human activity is the root cause - we cut down forests for farming, and we burn coal and oil for electricity generation and transport. Methane is present in the atmosphere in much smaller concentrations than carbon dioxide, but is a potent greenhouse gas. It is produced by some industrial activity, but principally exhaled by sheep and cattle as they burp. Fortunately, methane is not a long-lived gas in the atmosphere.
Global warming does exist. Evidence supporting its existence is extensive. For one, based on geological data and evidence, the Earth is supposed to be in a period of cooling, but instead our temperatures have risen 0.74ºC (from 1906-2006). Our temperatures have only continued to rise, and are projected to rise anywhere between 1.8 to 4.6ºC in the next 100 years. This is an exponential increase, as from the time of the last ice age to now, the Earth's mean surface temperature only increased 3.5ºC. Other evidence is the increase in the number of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and halocarbons in the atmosphere, which are all molecules which hold heat and thus upset the temperature equilibrium. Since pre-industrial times, carbon dioxide has increased in the atmosphere by 35%. Though not the strongest molecule, it is the most abundant (measured in parts per million). The more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the more heat is able to be held, thus raising the equilibrium. Based on samples of air from 650,000 years ago (taken from ice cores), carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is much higher. Our rising sea levels indicate global warming, not merely due to melting ice caps, but also because when water warms, the molecules expand. A more accurate term than global warming is global climate change, as not all areas will warm, and climate change will not be uniform. People who say global climate change/warming does not exist do not have concrete scientific facts to dismantle the basic facts: that greenhouse gases are increasing, and are directly correlated with the raise in the temperature in many places of the world.
Several billion has been spent on determining whats causing global warming. Scientist are paid through grants from the federal government to find out whats causing the warming and if their is an immediate threat. And 98% concluded that global warming is man made and we are in great danger. While only several million has been spent (by major oil corporations) to debunk the findings and make people think it's just natural and we shouldn't be alarmed. So, most debunker's want you to believe that since the Oil corporations are paying people off, to make up lies, that the government is also paying off their scientist as well to make up the facts, even though the scientist are not being paid by the government to determine if it is man mad or not. The federal government has no stake in global warming being true or not true. They will get sponsored regardless. While big oil corporations only care about one thing and one thing only, and that's making a profit. Every debunker's argument wants you to think that just because we have cold weather in the winter that global warming is a farce. They don't want you to realize, that it means the winters are gonna be colder. And the summers are gonna be hotter. And the weather (Hurricanes, Torandos, Floods, etc.) is gonna be far worse then usual.
There is no debate. Scientists have proved that climate change is happening and it is being caused by our burning of fossil fuels and our deforestation. There is a noisy minority who do not believe scientists, but they have no facts to debate with. There was an outcry when scientists first suggested that the earth was a sphere that moved round the sun.

Well, the climate has change in the past years. But it has been a lot hotter then this and colder. So I say no to global warming. They just started it for the money. Most scienctists say Global Warming is a hoax. The earth can't really be afected but people. But ya its good to stop pollution and clean the earth. So I say they only are doing it for money, and to reduce pollution. I think its unfair because in schools they are showing stuff about Global Warming. It isn't ever a proven fact that its true which it isn't. so no you shouldn't. Just about all the climate scientists in the world believe that Global Climate Change is happening, that it is caused by humans, and also that we can do something about it if we act now. Every country in the world except the US has ratified the Kyoto Protocol where they also agree and believe the scientists. The US has a new President who also accepts the truth about Global Warming. Young people will still be alive in 50 or 60 years. They will know then if we did enough now to stop it.Read the link below: 100 facts about Global Warming
Models are not as important as observation. Theories must fit the facts. And global climate (with or without global warming) is very complex to model. But if we observe an increase in average global temperatures, then the globe is indeed getting warmer.
Some global warning facts are that the earth has raised in temperature an average of 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit since the year 1880. Arctic ice caps are rapidly disappearing due to global warming, and coral reefs are experiencing more bleaching in the waters causing them to die off.
