Greenhouse gasses is a gas in the atmosphere That absorbs and emits radiation. The primary greenhouse gasses in the earth's atmosphere are water vapor, carbone dioxide , methane, Nitrous oxide and ozone. Greenhouse gasses affect the earth by keeping the heat at earth making the ice melts which increase the water level. Making floods and many people will be killed.

H2O (water vapor), CO2 (carbon dioxide), and CH4 (methane) are three primary greenhouse gases. There are others. What distinguishes these gasses from N2 (nitrogen) and O2 (oxygen) are that they tend to trap infrared radiation emitted from the ground. Light passes through the atmosphere, is absorbed by the earth or ocean, and is emitted back in the infrared frequency. This radiation would pass back out through space if there was only nitrogen and oxygen. The more heat trapping gasses there are, the more likely this radiation will be absorbed, raising global temperatures just a little bit.

The effect is not noticeable over the course of a year, or even a couple of years. Long term trend lines show our planet is indeed warming, and the evidence of this warming abounds. First we have temperature records. Receding glaciers and animal migrations provide further evidence for climate change. Human beings currently release 30 billion tons (30,000,000,000) of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. It is difficult to imagine why anyone might think we could continue doing this without any environmental impact whatsoever, unless we had good evidence the climate was NOT changing.

Water vapor, because it traps heat near the surface better than any other. Methane is probably #2. Carbon dioxide is a distant third.

Unfortunately, water vapor in the atmosphere can't be (or at least, has not been) modelled properly in computer simulations, which goes a long way to explaining why the results of the simulations are so different from experimental data. Methane is produced by nearly all biological processes, including decomposition of swamps and animal flatulence and belches.

carbon dioxide is the main green house gas. It effects the planet because it stays in the atmosphere and pollutes the enviroment.

CO-2s...after they reach the ozone layer, they combine with the other chemicals and break down the thin layer that is shielding the earth from the sun's harmful rays.

The three main greenhouse gases are water vapour, carbon dioxide and methane. They keep the atmosphere warm, but too much of them is causing global warming and climate change.

How does the increase in greenhouse gases support the theory of global warming?

Part of the theory of global warming is that greenhouse gases capture the earth's heat. If more greenhouse gases are added to the atmosphere then more heat will be retained. We can measure that levels of greenhouse gases have increased, and we can measure that temperatures have risen. These measurements thus support the theory of global warming.

A decrease in the amount of greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere would result in?

A decrease in the amount of greenhouse gases in Earth's atmosphere would result in Cooler global temperatures. This would help decrease the impact of global warming.

What would happen to global temperatures if the amount of greenhouse gases increased or decreased?

increased = Hotter Decreased = Coler

How is global warming affecting temperatures?

Global warming occurs when the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere capture the sun's heat reflected off the earth. More and more carbon dioxide retains more and more heat. This is increasing the temperature of the world.

Do greenhouse gases increase global temperature?

Yes. In the absence of greenhouse gases, the world would be some 30 degrees celsius colder. At the other extreme, greenhouse gases contribute to the extreme heat on the planet Venus. So, a normal level of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, is very desirable. The present increase in the level of atmospheric carbon dioxide is considered to be the main cause of increasing average global temperatures.

How are excess greenhouse gases affecting the temperature of earth's atmosphere?

Greenhouse gases help keep the earth's temperature at a comfortable level suitable for human existence. When we increase the atmospheric concentration of greenhouse gases above their natural level, this leads to global warming, in other words higher average temperatures across the globe.

Why would increased levels of greenhouse gases contribute to higher temperatures?

Greenhouse gases trap the heat rising fom the earth. Increased levels of greenhouse gases mean that global warming will get worse.

What do many scientists theorize is the cause for the higher global temperatures?

Increased emissions of greenhouse gases

Does a change in natural levels of greenhouse gases warm the earth?

Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide and methane. A reduction in the amount of these gases in the atmosphere would result in global cooling, while an increase results in higher global average temperatures - global warming.
