Becasue people often prefer to live on the coast due to the warm Australian climate, Australian Coastlines are constantly under threat by property developers, the increase in pollution is casusing a decline in the quality of the water(more people means more pollution), human activities interfere with the coastal ecosystem and the natural processes that occur on the coastline. All the development near the coastlines loosens the soil, this means that when it is high tide the soil flows into the sea along with buildings. This gives the government a lot of work to do in order to fix the damages, and fixing the damages is very expensive.
