If you mean the present climate change, then scientists agree that it is caused by man's deforestation and burning of fossil fuels.
3. It is also likely that a wobble in the Earth's axis of rotation contributes to these ice age cycles we've seen wax and wane over the past 800,000 years (based on ice cores, so may not be globally representative in details, but it is in the big picture). The cycle has been quite regular the last 400,000 years, and seems to be getting more pronounced and longer with time. Five times in the last 400,000 years we've seen a very steep rise in temperatures to come out of an ice age, then the temperatures begin a much slower descent back into ice age conditions. The most recent cycle (before the sharp warming that started about 25,000 years ago) was most pronounced, with Earth's average temperature possibly fluctuating by as much as 15C from the peak ~125,000 years ago to the nadir ~30,000 years ago. Taking anthropomorphic global warming out of the equation, and looking purely at the ice age cycle, we appear to have reached the end of the cycle's sharp temperature increase several thousand years ago, and should be in the early stages of the gradual cool-down toward an ice age.

We have no idea how many agree.A:The AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science) boasts about ten million members internationally, including 262 societies and academies of science. That is huge, and probably larger than the number of scientists world wide. A better estimate for the number of scientists and researchers would probably in the neighborhood of 6 million. Not all of them accept the general consensus of anthropogenic global warming. To estimate that number, we would need a representative poll of scientists, of whom probably fewer than 2000 lay claim to recent specific work in climate science. A survey nearly ten years old indicated 97% out of 1372 climate scientists who responded accepted the consensus, which tallies to 1330 people. But of scientists in general, the percent would be lower. Many of them would not be aware of specific research, or even all that interested in results far outside their field of expertise. Nevertheless, a poll of general scientists revealed about 80% concurred with the consensus, suggesting the total number of scientists who accept global warming would be approximately 4.6 million.A:Most scientists and their organizations around the world believe that global warming is happening and it is being caused by human actions, burning fossil fuels andcutting down forests.Scientific Organizations that accept the broad scientific consensus that global warming is happening include:NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New YorkAmerican Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS)National Research CouncilAmerican Institute of PhysicsEuropean Academy of Sciences and ArtsEuropean Science FoundationThe United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC)American Geophysical UnionUS National Academy of ScienceAmerican Meteorological AssociationAmerican Medical AssociationAmerican Astronomical SocietyJoint Science AcademiesAmerican Meteorological SocietyNetwork of African Science AcademiesInternational Union for Quaternary ResearchAustralian Coral Reef Society.
Individual weather events, such as a storm, a cold winter or a hot summer do not effect climate in a given area. Climate is the statistics of weather, typically over a period of at least 30 years. Climate change is long term trends in climate and it is possible for short term changes to go in the opposite direction of the long term trend.

The primary external influences are:Political climate,Economic climate,Company strategies,Technological developments
The minimum time scale used by climate scientists is five years. This is why most of their data is represented by seasonal measurements (to indicate the extent of noise) and a five year running average to chart climate trends. Natural climate change during most of the Cenozoic has occurred over a hundred thousand year cycle known as the Milankovich Cycle. This has been earth's primary driver of climate for many millions of years.

Monetarism is a school of economic thought that emphasizes the role of government control over the money supply to achieve economic stability and growth. It argues that fluctuations in the money supply are the primary cause of economic fluctuations, and advocates for central bank intervention to control inflation and stabilize the economy.

The main controversy about global warming concerns whether humans are the primary driving force behind it as most earth's climate scientists have determined, or whether the human liberation in excess of 30 billion tons of CO2 per year via the consumption of fossil fuels has nothing to do with it but instead it is the result of unidentified natural causes, as the Heartland Institute (a propaganda outlet of the petroleum industry) insists. There is essentially no controversy among the vast majority of the world's leading climate scientists, nor among more than 80% of the rest of earth's scientists. But there is an enormous political controversy. The controversy over global warming occurs because a handful of people do not accept that the majority of climate scientists are correct. Journalists feel they have to give equal time to both sides of a story, whereas in fact, one side is 99% and the other is 1%.
