Deforestation is when a lot of trees are cut down and forests start to disappear.

Wood scraps on the forest floor rot and release carbon dioxide (CO2) or methane.

With fewer trees in the world they can't remove the CO2 from the atmosphere. So, with fewer trees there is more CO2 in the air and the greenhouse effect is worse.

What gasses play a major role in the destruction of the ozone layer?

Greenhouse gases play a major role. They react with ozone and deplete it.

Are greenhouse gases and natural gases ultimately the same?

A1. Natural gas is methane, CH4. It is a greenhouse gas, but far from the only one. Carbon dioxide, CO2, is the one that we are most concerned about.A2. But man made gases such as sulfur dioxide, and the fluorocarbons, (and more) also play their parts.

What are the effects of the deforestation?

Deforestation is one of the main causes of global warming.Deforestation also means that wildlife will have their habitats reduced or eliminated altogether. This means the natural wildlife in that area has to move to survive.Regions experiencing deforestation can become hotter and drier,Sediment can build up in nearby rivers and lakes.Soil erosion can increase.Less carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere.Lack of conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen...means more pollution and less clean fresh air...Less habitat for small little creatures living in treesDeforestation has many negative effects on the environment. The most severe is dramatic loss of habitat for millions of species, 70% of lands animals and plants live in forests. Trees also play a critical responsibility in absorbing the greenhouse gases. Less forests means larger amounts of greenhouse gases entering the atmosphere.

What effect does water vapor and carbon dioxide play into the greenhouse effect?

Water vapor and carbon dioxide both absorb heat. The sun's heat rises from the surface of the earth and is captured by these greenhouse gases. This natural greenhouse effect has kept the earth warm for millions of years. Too much greenhouse gas, unfortunately, is causing climate change.

Who should play a role in controlling the factors that cause global warming?

Everyone can reduce release of Greenhouse Gases. Mostly, cut down on how much energy you use.

What role does carbon dioxide play in your atmosphere?

Carbon dioxide constitutes about 0.04% of the total atmosphere. It is a greenhouse gas that uses greenhouse effect and radiative forcing to regulate the temperature on Earth's surface. It also plays a major role in carbon cycle.

Are refrigerators causing global warming?

Refrigerators usually give out heat, and are usually run on fossil fuel electricity, so, yes, they contribute to global warming. However, they only play a small part in causing global warming. The main causes of global warming are the greenhouse gases released when we burn fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) in transport, industry, and the generation of electricity. That and deforestation.

What role does radiation play in warming the atmosphere?

Radiation from the sun warms the earth. Increasing amounts of greenhouse gases prevent this heat from reflecting back out into space, causing a global warming of the atmosphere.

Why should you care about cheetah if it's not your problem?

Because we play a part in their endangerment. A lot of them die from being overheated and with all the greenhouse gases we emmit (sp?) it's not making things any better for them.

What part do plants play in reducing the accumulation of greenhouse gases?

Plants, trees and any vegetation remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. The carbon is stored in the plant and oxygen is released into the air.

What role do humans play in the invasive species problem?

deforestation

How does burning fuels contribute to global warming?

Another contributor has written:Fossil fuels are generally mixtures of Carbon based compounds. When these compounds undergo a Stoichiometric combustion process, this yields carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). CO2 is a greenhouse gas that enhances the greenhouse effect by trapping additional radiation and thereby warming the atmosphere. There is also other factors that play into Global warming as well, such as deforestation.
