An electrical schematic diagram, shows where the wires and conductors connect to components. It is not a literal layout and is expanded to make it easier to read and understand. The wires do not neccessarily follow the same path in the diagram, but the end results are the same. In a schematic diagram for a car, the colours of the wires are also noted, so that they can be traced and identified.
That would refer to the electrical wiring layout. Although it doesn't show where it is routed axactly, it does show where the wires are spliced and the components they lead to.
