It's not that carbon monoxide is toxic, but it bonds with haemoglobin in the blood more readily than oxygen does. If your bloodstream is full of carbon monoxide it can't carry oxygen so you asphyxiate and die.

well all i know is that it is a posinus gas which doesn't have enough oxygen in to keep you alive

Your body needs oxygen to live. If you inhale carbon monoxide, your lungs can't inhale it, and you will suffocate to death.
