Rains depend on many factors. One important factor are weather fronts and land geography. For example, the State of Washington receives more rain than probably any other state. Weather fronts dip down from Canada, extending through the US, producing storms that carry rain (or snow during winter). However, some States such as in the West receive very little rain -- or occasionally have monsoon-like rainfall.
