Months, years or even centuries aren't helpful for thinking about earth's long history.

Because the time span of earth's past is so great, geologist use the geologic time scale to show earths history.

:they didn't discover much, but they use fossils,DNA,and reacher many things.:

Over Earth history though the processes that occur on Earth have not changed the?

Over Earth's history, though the processes that occur on Earth have not changed, the physical conditions have. It is estimated that the Earth is 4.54 billion years old.

Is the study of the earth's atmosphere called Geology?

The study of Earth's atmosphere is called meteorology. Geology is the study of the Earth, including Earth's surface and interior; geologists study the origin, history, and structure of Earth and the processes that shape it over time.

Has the amount of water on earth changed over time?

Yes. We currently believe that it has changed over time. It is believed that the Earth was first dry and that water was delivered to it later by cometary or meteoric impactors.

How has the Earth's climate changed over time?

Earth's climate has changed due to ice ages, volcanic eruptions, asteroid impacts, the Sun's cycle, and global warming.

What do geologists study?

Geologists study the Earth, including Earth's surface and interior. Geologists study the origin, history, and structure of Earth and the processes that shape it over time. A geologist is a contributor to the science of geology. Geologists study the physical structure and processes of the Earth. Their undergraduate training typically includes significant coursework in chemistry, physics, mathematics and possibly biology, in addition to classes offered through the geology department; volcanology, hydrology, and rock and mineral formation are among the many areas of study. Most geologists also need skills in GIS and other mapping techniques. Geologists survey the rock and mineral structure of an area which can assist in finding water supplies, oil, gas, mineral resources and faults amongst other things. This information can be useful to mining companies, government agencies, construction companies and so on.

What components of the earth have changed the least over time?

Components of the earth that changed the least over time include the earth's crust and mantle and the structure of the earth's interior. Other structures that have changed very little include the components of the atmosphere.

How did the work of geologists support Darwin's theory of evolution?

Before Darwin proposed his Theory of Evolution, it was widely believed that the Earth was only 6,000 years old. Geologists noticed that the Earth changed gradually over time (tectonic plates shifting to create volcanoes, mountains, etc) in order for such changes to create the Earth known at that time, it would have to be building up such changes over millions of years, thus creating the idea of Earth's immense age which allowed for evolution to create the diverse species known today. This theory of gradualism (as it was called) was adapted into Darwin's theory to apply to the species and their gradual changes.

Which of these statements is falseThe earth has changed very little over time. The continents are in constant slow motion.Earth's internal heat helps move tectonic plates. The early atmosphere did not contain oxygen?

The earth has changed very little over time.

What does rocks have to do with geology?

Geology is the study of the earth. Since much of the earth is made up of rocks, most geologists spend time studying how the rocks change over time, along with their history and formation.
