Possible you may mean wash BOARD. This was a wood and metal or wood and glass device used to wash clothes by hand. The wash board was placed in a tub of soapy water, and had a rippled surface. Dirty clothes were placed in the water, and scrubbed against the rippled surface to release dirt.
The clothes have friction with the other clothes so that makes static electricity. The static lets the clothes stick, as a balloon sticks to a wall when you rub it on your hair.
Basically, people wash clothes on rocks since they are a solid surface to rub against in order to get the dirt out of clothing. It is the same theory as the washboards that were used in the 1800s and later.
I usually boil the kettle and use that water to wash my hands to make sure the bacteria on my hands die a long warm painful death by drowning
It is usually best. Colored clothes will lose a little bit of color for a long time and the whites will pick it up. The temperature will vary also.
I use Dreft. It is mild baby detergent. Either hand wash warm or use the shortest cycle on your machine for colored clothes.
For basically two reasons: white clothes are bleached most of the time. But in the case where bleach isn't used, the color from the colored clothes could bleed onto the white clothes, discoloring them.
Darker clothes absorb more heat than lighter colored ones
You can, but you need another ingredient. You cant just wash it with water and it'll be clean! You need soap. Scrub soap on the shirt and then rinse it in water. Your clothes will be clean. I GUARANTEE IT!!!!
Usually when we go to do laundry we will separate our clothing depending on the colored so no it does not mean to wash one piece by itself just dont wash your red blues pinks with your white and blacks and ect.You will wash all your black clothes together all your whites together and then all your colored clothes together Hope i helped
Depends. It is best for the environment / energy savings to always wash in cold water. If clothes are stained, the best water temperature might depend on what kind of stain.

The best way to stop clothes from shrinking in the wash is to make sure the wash temperature is on cold as opposed to hot or warm. Using specific detergent made for cold water also helps lessen shrinking.
