Holmium was discovered in France by the Frenchman Jacques-Louis Soret in 1878.
Holmium was discovered by Per Theodor Cleve, a Swedish chemist, in 1879. Cleve used the same method Carl Gustaf Mosander used to discover lanthanum, erbium and terbium, he looked for impurities in the oxides of other rare earth elements. He started with erbia, the oxide of erbium (Er2O3), and removed all of the known contaminants. After further processing, he obtained two new materials, one brown and the other green. Cleve named the brown material holmia and the green material thulia. Holmia is the oxide of the element holmium and thulia is the oxide of the element thulium. Holmium's absorption spectrum was observed later that year by J. L. Soret and M. Delafontaine, Swiss chemists. Today, holmium is primarily obtained through an ion exchange process from monazite sand ((Ce, La, Th, Nd, Y)PO4), a material rich in rare earth elements that can contain as much as 0.05% holmium.
Speed can be measured in units such as meters per second (m/s) or kilometers per hour (km/h).
The average rainfall rate in inches per hour in our region is 0.25 inches per hour.
Equates to approximately 681.82 miles per hour. Supporting math - There are 60 seconds in every minute (multiply 1000 X 60 = 60,000) There are 60 minutes in every hour (multiply 60,000 X 60 = 3,600,000) There are 5280 feet in every mile (divide 3,600,000 / 5280 = 681.8181818181)1,000 feet per second is 681.82 miles per hour.
Oklahoma experiences the most tornadoes per square mile.
Based on data from the past 30 years, Mississippi averages about 40 tornadoes per year.
In 1878, Marc Delafontaine and Jacques-Louis Soret discovered the characteristic spectroscopic absorption lines of a new element they called Element X. Later that year, Per Teodor Cleve independently discovered Holmium through chemical separation techniques from the mineral erbia earth. The three are credited with the discovery of Holmium.
The writers were of Swedish decent and had a great respect for Cleve.
Per Teodor Cleve was born on 1840-02-10.
Per Teodor Cleve died on 1905-06-18.
Holmium: The number of protons per nucleus of an atom is the same as its atomic number.

Per Teodor Cleve has written: 'Synopsis of the naviculoid diatoms' -- subject(s): Fragilariaceae 'Carl Wilhelm Scheele' 'A treatise on the phytoplankton of the Atlantic and its tributaries' -- subject(s): Phytoplankton
Thulium was discovered by Swedish chemist Per Teodor Cleve in 1879.
Hellium was discovered in 1895 by Sir William Ramsay and Per Teodor Cleve.
By definition, one mole would be the same as the atomic mass. You take the number of moles and multiply it by the atomic mass. So if you have just 1 mole, the number of grams will be the atomic mass. Holmium's atomic mass is 164.93 grams.
Thulium is named after the ancient name for Scandinavia, Thule. This element was discovered in 1879 by Swedish chemist Per Teodor Cleve.
