North & West
Western Hemisphere, because it is west of the Prime meredian and Northern Hemisphere because it is located above the Equator.
Strange as it may seem, there is also a tiny part of the USA in the Eastern Hemisphere. It's the western portion of the Aleutian chain of islands that dangles from the "chin" of Alaska, and keeps going, across the meridian of 180 longitude into the eastern hemisphere. It's all part of the state of Alaska, and part of the US.
The United States is in two different hemispheres due to its location straddling the Equator. Parts of the US, like Hawaii, are in the Northern Hemisphere while territories like American Samoa are in the Southern Hemisphere.
The splitting of Earth into two hemispheres was a natural process called continental drift, driven by the movement of tectonic plates. This movement gradually separated the supercontinent Pangaea into the continents we have today.
The united states is in the northern and western and eastern (Alaska sits either side of the 180o meridian) hemispheres.
They are called "hemispheres". There are four of them: western and eastern hemispheres and northern and southern hemispheres.
There are two hemispheres on Earth: the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere, divided by the equator. Each hemisphere experiences different seasons based on the tilt of the Earth's axis in relation to the Sun.
