The terms habitat and territory are both applicable to a wide range of sizes, ranging from the microscopic to the planetary. Territory is more likely to be used when you are talking about some land or region that some person, group, or other creatures such as a pack of wolves, is deliberately claiming as their property. A habitat can be an entirely unconscious region in which some organism lives; plants have habitats, even though they make no deliberate claims about anything.
