Oil and Gas are found together because they were formed hundreds of years ago when Canada was covered by shallow seas. Over millions of years remains of marine animals and plants fell to the ocean floor and built up in thick layers which were eventually covered by layers of sand and silt. These layers compressed into sedimentary rock and heat and pressure converterted it into oil and gas. it can be found under a non-porous rock layer in a porous rock layer.

What is the fossil fuel that is found trapped under ground above the layers of oil?

The fossil fuel found trapped underground above oil layers is natural gas, which can be found in porous rock formations. Natural gas is often found alongside oil deposits and can be extracted using similar techniques.

What 2 fossil fuels are formed next to each other?

Coal and natural gas are often found together because they both come from the same type of organic material that was buried and compressed over millions of years. This process can lead to the formation of coal seams and natural gas pockets in close proximity to each other underground.

Why are gas deposits found on top of oil deposits?

Gas deposits are often found on top of oil deposits because natural gas is less dense than oil, so it tends to migrate upwards through the rock layers. As oil forms and collects deeper underground, the gas migrates upwards along with it. Over time, the gas tends to accumulate on top of the oil within the rock formations.

When surveyors find oil pockets in the ground what other fossil fuel most likely will be in the same spot?

If surveyors find oil pockets in the ground, it is likely that natural gas may also be located in the same spot. This is because oil and natural gas are often found together in underground reservoirs due to their similar formation processes.

What layer of the earth is Natural Gas found in?

Natural gas is typically found in the Earth's crust, primarily in sedimentary rocks and reservoirs. It is often associated with oil deposits and can be found at various depths depending on the geologic conditions of the area.

Which two fossil fuels are often found together in underground rock?

Oil and natural gas are often found together in underground rock formations, with one being formed as a byproduct of the other. This is because they are both derived from organic matter that has been buried and subjected to heat and pressure over millions of years.

Natural gas is often found where crude oil is found?

Natural gas is found along with crude oil in underground reservoirs because both are hydrocarbons formed from organic matter that decomposed over millions of years. This is why many oil fields also produce natural gas as a byproduct. Methane, the primary component of natural gas, can be found in conjunction with crude oil deposits.

How is crude oil turned into natural gas?

Natural gas is often found with crude oil, and has in the past just been flared off. I don't think oil is turned into gas though.

What gas is a constituent of crude oil?

Natural gas, primarily composed of methane, is a constituent often found in association with crude oil deposits. It can occur either dissolved in the crude oil or as a separate gas phase above the oil.

Is oil found under or above natural gas?

Oil is typically found below natural gas deposits. This is because oil is denser than natural gas and tends to settle at lower depths in the Earth's crust. As a result, oil deposits are often located beneath natural gas reservoirs.

An important natural resource often found in association with underground pools of oil is?

Natural gas

Is natural gas often found where crude oil is found?

Yes, natural gas is often found in the same geological formations as crude oil, as both are produced from organic matter buried deep underground under high pressure and temperature conditions. However, the presence of natural gas can vary depending on the specific characteristics of the reservoir.
