The evaporation of sweat is due to water molecules taking energy from the body (cooling it) . The water molecules have higher energy and so enter a gaseous state.

In conditions of high humidity, evaporation becomes virtually impossible since the air can only absorb a certain amount of water vapour. ie. you cant have more than 100% humidity, so only a certain amount of water can be absorbed, so the sweat remains on your skin instead of evaporating.

Why Do you sweat more on a humid day?

People actually sweat the same amount on a humid day as they do a cold, dry day. The difference is that the sweat isn't able to evaporate as quickly because of how much moisture is already in the air.

Do you sweat more on a hot dry day or a hot humid day?

we sweat more on a hot dry day,as on a humid day there is lot of moisture already present in the atmosphere. And on a dry day heat is more and moisture is less...

Why do you feel more hot and uncomfortable on a highly humid day than on a less humid day?

In The Online World It Says That, "Humidity is the measure of the percentage of water vaporization in the air. When there is high humidity, less sweat from your skin evaporates into the air because the air has too much water already. Sweat evaporating cools you because the process of evaporation absorbs heat from you body. Hence, you feel uncomfortable because your body cannot get rid of heat from sweat. "

Why do you feel sticky on a humid day?

because there is lot of water vapor in the atmosphere than on a normal day and that is why the normal evaporation process of sweat does not work properly and we feel sticky

Why do people feel cooler on a hot dry day than on a hot humid day?

On a hot humid day the air circulation is heldup by the moisture density present in the air. the air gains weight and will not move . where as on a dry hot day the air is lighter and travels freely. * * * * * The air on a hot humid day holds much more moisture than on a hot dry day. As a result, your perspiration will evaporate much more quickly on a dry hot day and the process of evaporation will require heat equivalent to the latent heat of vaporisation. A lot of this heat will be taken from your body and that is why you will feel cooler.

Do you sweat more on a dry day or on a humid day if yes why?

You will sweat the same on both days if your activity is the same. It will evaporate faster on a dry day, so you will notice less sweat on a dry day.

Why do we sweat more in humidity?

It is actually not a matter of sweating more but of it being more difficult to evaporate the sweat. If you are in a dry and windy place it is very simple for sweat to evaporate, in a more humid area there is more water in the air already and therefore makes evaporation of the sweat much more difficult. Then it would appear that you sweat more because you are seeing the sweat, however it is a matter of evaporation.

Do we sweat more on a dry day or humid day justify your reason?

Humid day

In humid weather why you have more sweating?

We seem to 'sweat more' on a humid day because as the air is already packed with water molecules, our sweat does not get a chance to evaporate as fast as it would in dry air. So as there is 'no room' for sweat to be absorbed into the water-filled air, which is what humidity is, the sweat just remains a liquid and drips down instead....

Would you expect the temperature of the wet-bulb thermometer to be higher on a humid dry day?

On a dry day, water will evaporate from the wet bulb thermometer, cooling it. On a humid day, since moisture is already in the air, less will evaporate, and cool it less.

Why the sweat from a body does not evaporate easily on a hot and a sticky day?

The stickiness of the day is humidity. So most of the moisture on your body is the wetness in the air and not just sweat.

Why do you sweat profusely in humid day?

we don't sweat more but what actually happens is that sweat gets retained on our body. On humid days air is already containing lot of moisture which prevents evaporation of sweat from our body and thus is retained on the body, which inturn makes us to feel warmer.

Why water doesn't evaporate on hot humid day?

Because humidity means there is a lot of water vapor in the air, and thus, water cannot evaporate, as there is no room for it in the air.
