Well really its to do with a sense of logic, because we read left to right. Then you would expect a graduation in the scales to be from left to right as well. The real reason the zero is on the left side of the scale is in case you want to make smaller calculations, this is also why the fractional scale is smaller on the left side.

The scales of temperature cannot all meet, as the Kelvin and Celsius scales have the same size degrees but different zero points. Absolute Zero is 0° Kelvin, and equal to -273.15 °C or -459.67 °F. Because the Celsius and Fahrenheit scales are offset by 32° at their starting points (freezing point of water), the two scales do have a common numerical point at -40° (minus 40 degrees). (see related question)
The Celsius and the Fahrenheit scales don't go down that far.
The approved ISO temperature scales are the Celsius and Kelvin scales. With the Celsius scale; Water freezes at 0°C, and boils at 100°C. With the Kelvin scale; Water freezes at 273.15°K, and boils at 373.15°K.
The column on the far left of the periodic table contains the alkali metals. These elements are highly reactive and have one electron in their outer shell. They include elements such as lithium, sodium, and potassium.
You trade them in to the move tutors house which is on the far left side of fallarbor town
The ISBN of Sliding Scales is 0-345-46158-4.
Salmon scales are perfectly fine to eat and are palatable. Some places salmon scales are left on when ordering a fillet.

Ye haddock does have scales. It is very similar to a cod although haddock is smaller , as is the mouth, not reaching as far back as the cods mouth.
As far as I can gather, shield bugs do not have scales. Shield bugs are of the suborder Heteroptera, but its the Sternorrhyncha suborder that includes scale insects.
Black codfish do have scales, which are generally very small. Possibly due to the size and color of the scales, it may seem that the black cod does not have scales.

As far as I know all reptiles have scales by definition. Some have larger scales than others. Some gecko species feel almost like suede but there really tiny scales there.
Absolute zero is 0 °K, or 0 °R on the Kelvin and Rankine scales.

That is how the two temperature scales were defined.
