I am assuming this is in regards to a DE fileration for a pool. My experience is that you may have a hole in one of the grids. You will need to take out the grids and spray off very well and check for holes. Replace if needed. Also, check top of filer for air screen or vent and see if it missing or has a hole and replace if necessary. One other thing is to make sure the o-ring is in place when you put filter back together on the pipe where they connect. There needs to be a good seal and this does make a difference.
In my experience this will stop DE from getting back into your pool.
Yes, after backwashing a pool filter you should add diatomaceous earth (DE) back to the filter immediately if you have a DE filter. If you have a sand or cartridge filter, there is no need to add anything after backwashing.
Filter earth coming out of the main drains in your pool can be caused by a broken or damaged filter grid inside the pool filter, allowing the filter media to escape. It could also be due to high pressure in the filter system, causing the filter media to be forced back into the pool. Check the filter system for any damage or blockages, and ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of the filter.
The water in a swimming pool is on the Earth's surface, while Earth's interior consists of solid and molten rock layers. The swimming pool water is a liquid contained in a confined space, whereas Earth's interior is a dynamic system of various layers, including the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. Additionally, the swimming pool water is influenced by external factors such as temperature and chemicals, while the Earth's interior is driven by geologic processes like convection and heat transfer.
You should not put any Earth in your 18 foot round 5 foot deep pool. You should only put water and cleaners in the pool.
Atmosphere is not a storage pool. It is not a physical reservoir where water is stored, but rather the layer of gases surrounding the Earth.

You pour it slowly into the skimmers and it stays in the filter
Most likely the filter. i would check the fingers inside the filter for tears.
The cleaning schedules varies from filter to filter, but a general guideline on any swimming pool filter is to take a reading when the filter is clean, then clean the pool filter when the pressure rises about 10 psi.

You have three main types of pool filters... Sand, Cartridge or DE (diatomaceous earth). Although they all filter pool water - the mechanics of each are different. From the pool
A pool skimmer is generally built into the side of or around the top of a swimming pool in order to skim debris from the surface of the water. A pool filter is built into the plumbing in order to filter fine debris from the water itself.
Salt is not a filter, it is added to pool water to allow a chlorine generator to operate.

You don't have to change the pool filter for years Unless it gets damaged. You do however have to clean the pool filter whenever the presure leading to the filter gets too high. This indicates a dirty filter that is not allowing water to get through effectively.
