Probably the quickest and easiest is to increase the current flow through the electromagnet's coil. It should be noted that there are limits on the amount of current that can be used to increase the field strength of an electromagnet. Certainly the coil imposes some limits, and they're pretty straight forward, but there is another consideration. That consideration is saturation of the core. At some point, the core material will only be able to effectively conduct so many magnetic lines of force. Another way to say that is to offer that the core will saturate; it will have reached its "natural capacity" to pass magnetic lines of force through its bulk. At that point, more current will add little to the field strength. There are some other ways to beef up an electromagnet, but they involve "rebuilding" the electromagnet and adding more turns of wire to the coil, rewinding the coil with large wire to support greater current flow, or winding the coil on a smaller diameter core (and engineering this to avoid saturation of the core) or something else to change the geometry of the coil.
