By the cutting of trees a lot of land becomes not-usable to farmers (mainly in LEDCs). Bigger industries take over, so the revenue made by those small farmers decreases (because they've lost their land of course). Costs become higher due to the fact that other places get difficult to own and so total profit becomes lower.
So reforestation has some effect on poverty indeed.
