The current rate of inflation in Australia?

Well according to the 2007 estimates (not sure who made these estimates) the Australian rate of inflation is 3%. The official CPI (Consumer Price Index) issued Quarterly from the 'Australian Bureau of Statistics' (http://abs.gov.au ) for the actual inflation rate is:--Dec 2004 - Dec 2005 = 2.8%-Dec 2005 - Dec 2006 = 3.3%-Dec 2006 - Dec 2007 = 3.0%-Dec 2007 - Mar 2008 = 1.3%-Mar 2008 - Jun 2008 = 1.5%-Jun 2008 - Sept 2008 = 1.2%= 4.0% (so far in 2008 - incomplete)

Will stimulus checks be sent out for 2009?

From the questions I've seen there appears to be some ongoing misconception that one was approved for sometime in Dec 08 and now of course '09. It hasn't. It wasn't even discussed much by any politician. And to whatever degree it was, it was only to say it won't likely happen again. The last one wasn't terribly successful so no economic package has been considered with one...the political scene is changing, it was shown to take too long and too much money for the government to even come up with the process. The recent stimulus package passed by congress (American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009) has now had the finer details examined and it can now be confirmed that the only mention in the act that relates to a 2009 stimulus check is by way of a section describing a tax credit which will be the lower of $500 or 6.2% of the yearly income of a taxpayer. BUT: Social Security benefit recipients will receive a one-time $250 economic stimulus check payment in May - several weeks ahead of schedule, Vice President Joe Biden announced Thursday.
