TL;DR: APEC was made in response to other trade agreements such as EU. APEC aims to be a free trade zone in the Asia-Pacific area to increase trade, reduce unemployment and increase living standards in Asia-Pacific. This is essentially just a theory at the present time, however, because they just seldom meet and when they do meet, other issues are discussed such as terrorism. APEC accounts for 41% of the world's population, 54% of the world's GDP and 44% of world trade. APEC aims to achieve free trade and therefor reduce unemployment in the Asia-Pacific region. APEC encourages free trade and investment. It is also non-discriminatory, meaning that they will trade with countries outside their agreement so long as the other country gives equal access to their markets. APEC is different to the EU because of this. If the EU trades with a country that is not part of their agreement, they tend to impose greater tariffs. This leads to less trade.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) facilitates international trade and export by promoting economic cooperation and reducing trade barriers among its member economies. By fostering dialogue and collaboration, APEC enhances trade policies and encourages the adoption of best practices, which can lead to increased market access and investment opportunities. Additionally, APEC initiatives support sustainable growth and innovation, helping member economies adapt to changing global trade dynamics. Overall, APEC plays a crucial role in enhancing economic integration and boosting trade within the Asia-Pacific region.
APEC doesn't have a Head. APEC's Chairmanship is held by the hosting member economy. Each year, APEC's Chairmanship is held by difference economy.
Universidad APEC was created in 1965.
The aim of the APEC Summit is to have an open trade system for countries in the Asia-Pacific region with the European nations to the betterment of the economic stand of all members. For me, this APEC Summit is a good vehicle for third world countries to help themselves rise above poverty and oppression, and for European countries to strengthen their position as a regional superpower. This stance benefits both parties involved.

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) does not have a singular leader; instead, it operates on a consensus basis among its member economies. Each year, a different member economy holds the APEC presidency, which involves hosting the annual APEC summit and setting the agenda for that year. As of 2023, the presidency is held by the United States.
