Mexico was signatory of the millenium goals, promoted by the United Nations and several countries to reduce poverty and suffering among the world's population.
The scheduled date to meet most of the millennium goals is 2015, and Mexico has already met some of them, is on track to reach some of those goals and is also falling behind on a couple of them:
Goal 1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger: ON TRACK
Goal 2. Achieve universal primary education: ALREADY MET
Goal 3. Promote gender equality and empower women: ON TRACK
Goal 4. Reduce child mortality: ALREADY MET
Goal 5. Improve maternal health: FALLING BEHIND
Goal 6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases: ON TRACK
Goal 7. Ensure environmental sustainability: ON TRACK
Goal 8. Develop a global partnership for development: FALLING BEHIND

Yes. Mexico has 26.2% of its children living below the poverty level; the United States doesn't fare well either with 22.4% of its children living below poverty levels. In absolute terms, the numbers are staggering with 12.88 million Mexican children below the poverty level against 16.4 million American children living below the poverty line.
provide people jobs
i don't know... maybe end poverty and have more citizen's rights our country is a symbol of hope for a new beginning and it is ridiculous at how selfish we have become. doo doo to this
According to such definition, 47% of the population lives below the poverty line. However, these statistics are a bit misleading. The nature of poverty varies among countries, and Mexico is no exception. According to Rob Cochran, from the International Journal of Humanities an Peace (Jan 1, 2006): It is true there is a lot of poverty in Mexico, but one thing I've noticed is that even the poorest of people have a place to live, food to eat, and usually, some kind of way to earn a few pesos; whether it's washing windows, selling gum or bracelets, braiding hair, or playing music. In the states, with all its wealth and social programs, if you don't make enough money, if you're mentally ill, if you're disabled, or even if you just have bad credit, you are likely one paycheck away from living on the streets...
.
Mexico's asset-based poverty amounted to 47% (2012 est.)
That it should be eradicated. Combating poverty however, is a very difficult proposition -- otherwise, there would not be poverty in the world.
