In countless examples, wealthy nations or empires were a source of military power, Also, the seeking of economic power has sometimes resulted in gaining such power by using military means. For example, although Nazi Germany became a wealthy nation before World War Two, Hitler saw Eastern Europe as a place for new economic growth. He attempted to use war as a method of obtaining the fertile lands of eastern Europe.
