Dyslexia. Poverty can have far reaching and adverse effects on ones life. Some of the consequences of poverty are malnutrition, teenage pregnancy abuse in the home, children are not given proper education children joining gangs to belong to somewhere, the selling of drugs to facilitate the things that are not provided in the home. Girls may also turn to prostitution to provide for themselves. Poverty can also lead to low self esteem as people who are poor are treated differently from the people who are well off. This can lead to a feeling of inadequacy.
It results in malnutrition, disease and in many cases, death. A lack of proper food can cause developmental deficiencies in children such as a small stature. It can cause teeth to fall out and internal organs to shut down. Poverty also means that a sick child may well not be able to afford medical treatment for simple conditions like the measels or chicken pox. Also, in Africa there is a lot of Leprosy which leads to the child being shunned by her family and community. Even though the cure is a regime of antibiotic pills, children in poverty likely could not afford to pay for the pills.
A normative statement in economics is like a normative statement in any other academic subject--it is a statement about something with an implicit value judgment or moral claim. It is distinct from a descriptive statement that is supposed to be value/ideologically neutral. For example, a descriptive statement in economics could be something like, 'Social Security is set to go bankrupt by 2050.' Whereas a normative statement would be something like, 'Social Security is set to go bankrupt by 2050 and thus must be saved to prevent a huge boom in elderly poverty.'
Because in poverty your food supply is very, very low, so your immune system isn't working as well as someone who has enough food. When your immune system is low, you are more prone to disease. Plus if you're poverty-stricken, sometimes you have to eat old food or food that's gone bad already (YUCK!).
Poverty goes hand in hand with malnutrition and disease.

I think there is direct relation between poverty and health. Poor people can't manage a healthy and nutritious diet everyday. They go for more quantity in least money. But it does affect their health. Problems like malnutrition is the example.
Poverty, suffering, malnutrition
Malnutrition is when your body is lacking proper nutrients. Nutrients as we know come with food. If you are poor or are in poverty affording food may be very hard. Hence unable to eat and not getting vital nutrients.
