What was the cause of death of Adam smith father of economics?

Adam Smith died on 17 July 1790 (aged 67) from a long and painful illness.In the winter of 1786-7 he had an attack which caused serious alarm. In the spring of 1790 Smith was plainly failing.

His last statements to his friends were ""I love your company, gentlemen, but I believe I must leave you to go to another world.I believe we must adjourn

this meeting to some other place."
