A pencil would be wiser, it can learn from mistakes and change. A pen on the other hand is very sure of themselves, and can not be molded to change.

well elasticity is obviously measured with elastics if you put an elastic on a nail then stretch it to it's maximum stretchosity then mark where it ends with a pen or pencil or marker or hi lighter or sharpie or a bookmark. then you measure it with a ruler and that is the elasticity
