I've read that HCG shows up in blood before it spills over into the urine. I think you could probably get a positive on an hpt and get a negative on a blood test, because most labs have a certain cutoff point to show pregnancy. Some cut off at 10 some at 25-50. Go to the doc and he can order a quantitative test to tell the exact amount of HCG you have in your blood.
