If you are in the U.S.,coming straight from high school you have to have a Bachelor's degree before entering Dental School. Not necessarily a science major though(depending on which Dental School you go to).It is 3-4 years to complete your Bachelor's Degree. Then apply to a Dental School where its about another 3-4 years.Which puts your studies to about 6-8 years to complete your dental(D.D.S or D.M.D) and Bachelor's (B.A or B.S.) degree.

However, there are some schools, such as St.John's University in New York which offer a Bachelor's Degree along with the Dental degree all in one!But it is extremely demanding and difficult. This means you can leave high school and go straight into your Dental program which is no more than 6 years.
