Many schools of architecture also offer postprofessional degrees for those who already have a bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or other areas. Although graduate education beyond the professional degree is not required for practicing architects, it may be required for research, teaching, and certain specialties.

The doctorate would take approximately four years post bachelor's to complete. The actual length of time depends much on how long it takes a student to prepare and defend their dissertation, which is an individual student project advancing an original view point on a topic of the students choosing with extensive supporting research and approved by the designated committee.

No they do not. The minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree, however, most in the field pursue a master's degree. This would take approximately two to three years beyond The Bachelor's degree. It should be noted, that while the bachelor's degree in most fields is a four year program of study, the bachelor's degree in artchitecture is a five year program of study.
