observations can be more valid because when you observe things you are kind of making small facts about it and facts are valid unlike opinions which is giving something you think is valid from your point of view but you are not sure for a fact that its real so to make that short opinions are saying what you believe.

Why is it possible to have a reliable measure that is not valid but impossible to have a valid measure that is not reliable?

A reliable measure is consistent and yields consistent results, so it may not be measuring the intended construct accurately (lack validity). On the other hand, a valid measure accurately assesses the intended construct, but it must be consistent and produce stable results (reliable) to ensure that the measurements are dependable and trustworthy.

What type of observation involves collecting research data under controlled conditions?

Experimental observation involves collecting research data under controlled conditions. This allows researchers to manipulate variables and establish cause-and-effect relationships between them. By controlling for external factors, experimental observations aim to provide more valid and reliable results.

Is it more important to be valid or sound?

It is more important for an argument to be sound than valid. A sound argument is both valid and has true premises, making it stronger and more reliable. Validity only ensures that the structure of the argument is correct, but soundness ensures that the content is also true.

Why is it important to consider the conditions under which an observation is made?

Because your observation may not be representative of the subject in other conditions. In other words if you observe the behavior of a substance below freezing, you cannot document that behavior unless you also document the conditions under which you observed it. Its behavior may be different above freezing.

How are scientific theories made?

Over time, as more evidence accumulates to support a hypothesis, it may be elevated to the status of a theory.

What may be the consequences of making subjective rather than objective observation statements?

Making subjective observation statements can lead to bias, misinterpretation, and lack of credibility in your observations. Objective observation statements are more reliable because they are based on facts and evidence, while subjective observations are influenced by personal feelings, opinions, and experiences. This can impact the accuracy and validity of your observations.

Why are the results from surveys more reliable than one person's observation?

Surveys involve collecting data from a larger sample size, which helps to reduce biases and inaccuracies that may occur with individual observations. Surveys also typically use standardized instruments and methods, increasing the reliability and validity of the results compared to a single person's subjective observation.
