How long has Education been around?

Using the term in its broadest sense, since Classical times at least, with the Ancient Greek philosophers. Teaching of some sort must have existed, even if informally, well before then, however.

Formal education, if you could call it that, of children in Europe did not really start until the Middle Ages though.
